7 Signs You Are Mentally Or Emotionally Exhausted

1534

Mental or emotional exhaustion is a state where a person is suffocated by himself. He is fed up with the overwhelming emotions surrounding him like a tornado. There comes a stage where he starts feeling numb to ecstatic and excruciatingly painful news. The tears stop coming and you just want to transfer your soul into another body. It is a state of depression.

It’s just the way Jasmine Warga explains in her book ‘My Heart and Other Black Holes’,” Depression is like a heaviness that you can’t ever escape. It crushes down on you, making even the smallest things like tying your shoes or chewing on toast seems like a twenty-mile hike uphill. Depression is part of you; it’s in your bones and blood. If I know anything about it, this is what I know: it’s impossible to escape.”

No matter how tired you are or how heavy your eyelids are getting you are unable to sleep. You keep tossing and turning in bed thinking about meaningless things. You just want to drift off to dreamland to escape the exhausted you but sleep is one big enemy of yours that want you to beg for it to come. In other cases, you won’t feel the need to sleep at all. This usually happens to people suffering from bipolar disorder. For perfect diagnosis consultation with a psychiatrist is important.

You feel like you are worthless and wasting your time. You become convinced that you are not fulfilling the purpose, you are supposed to fulfill in this world. You start self-deprecating and deciding on your own that every single human being on the face of this planet is better than you. You stop knowing your potential and what things you are you better at. You just sulk around being good for nothing.

5) Detachment:

You don’t want to be surrounded by any living being possible. Not even by people who greatly care for you and have your best interests at heart. You feel like pushing everyone away. You feel like people don’t understand you and even if they do they start walking on eggshells whenever you are around in the fear that you will burst at any given moment. You feel like everyone is better off without you.

6) Loss of interest:

You frequently lose interest in things you used to find pleasure in before. Even everyday habits seem like a useless thing. You don’t feel like doing things that took you to a new level of ecstasy before. It is hard to even concentrate on things that you have to do, no matter the circumstances or your lack of interest for that matter.

7) Suicidal thoughts:

Fed up from everything inside and outside you, there comes a time when you feel like ending everything, all emotions, the numbness afterward and finally yourself. It starts with cutting yourself and finally leading to suicide. This is a stage of life where we should never believe our instincts because they always lead to dark paths which we do not ever want to encounter in our sane mind. We just have to remind ourselves that death is never the answer.

It is said, “If you are emotionally drained you cannot give. Replenish yourself. A hollow cloud produces no rain and the earth dies of thirst.”

So, all we have to do is pull ourselves together and get through it!
