Health Benefits Of Lemon

When the word “Lemon” comes to your mind, you mostly think of skincare. But what you might not know is that lemons are a citrus fruit capable of providing many health benefits.

Lemons are full of vitamin C, fiber, and many plant compounds effective for a healthy body.

Let’s take a look at how lemons prove to be beneficial for us:

We all know how good vitamin C is for our heart, and a high amount of vitamin C present in Lemons reduces the risk of strokes and many heart diseases. However, not only the vitamin C but also the plant compounds and fiber present in Lemon help lessen the chances of developing heart diseases.

Studies have shown how cholesterol levels reduce by eating 24 grams of citrus fiber present in a lemon for a month daily.

We also promote Lemon as a weight-loss element, and why is that? The fiber and other plant compounds present in a lemon enhance and broaden your stomach, giving you a full feeling and making you less hungry.  Some theories have shown that drinking lemon with warm water helps in weight loss. The plant compounds in Lemon also stop the excess weight gain of a person. However, more studies still need to be conducted.

Lemons prevent small lumps caused due to the crystallization of waste products and piling up in the kidneys, known as kidney stones. They are very common in people, and if a person gets them once, there are chances of getting them again. The citric acid present in Lemon helps increase the urine pH levels and volume and eliminate the chances of kidney stone development. Lemonade is considered beneficial in this case.

Lemons comprise iron, but it also helps anemic patients by boosting the iron absorption from other plant foods. Iron from meat, chicken, and fish are easily absorbed in the body, but it is not similar to plant foods; that is when Lemon comes into action. This action protects you from iron deficiency.

Lemons consist of soluble fiber, which helps in gut health improvement and solves digestive issues. It slows down the digestion of sugar and starch, which conclude in reduced blood sugar levels. But for that, you need to eat the pulp of the Lemon and not just drink the juice.

Lemon is also very beneficial for glowing, healthy skin as the vitamin C present in it helps collagen formation. Either eaten, drank in juices, or applied on the face, Lemon also helps with acne. It also helps fight the bacteria that cause a foul odor.

Lemon has a delightful smell and adds a special effect to the culinary dishes. We also use Lemon in sauces, baked items, drinks, desserts, and marinades.
