Just because you’re pregnant does not mean that your pre-pregnancy life is going to shatter completely, and you’d have to stop everything. No, that is not the case, and you can do almost everything you want apart from drugs and alcohol use. But when you’re expecting a baby, you must take care of your well-being and abstain from things that can cause harm to you and your baby.

To prevent complications and have a healthy baby away from harm, let’s check out the things which can be harmful to your baby in pregnancy:

You should avoid certain foods like raw meat and shellfish during your pregnancy. Undercooked poultry items, beef, and raw eggs in certain foods should be avoided. Uncooked seafood, which includes oysters, clams, and mussels, should be avoided as well.

Avoid Deli meat which can contain bacteria that lead to blood poisoning and infection in utero, which can cause harm to your baby in a life-threatening way.

Shark, King mackerel, tilefish, and swordfish contain a rich amount of mercury which should be avoided during pregnancy. Seafood that is smoked and refrigerated should also be avoided as it can cause harm to the utero because of the possibility of contamination with harmful bacteria.

Imported Soft cheeses should also be avoided because they contain harmful bacteria.

Caffeine should be avoided and limited during pregnancy because it increases heart rate, blood pressure, and constant urge to pee. You may operate well with coffee, but your baby won’t be okay because his metabolism is still in the developing process. Not only in coffees, but caffeine is also present in chocolates, certain medicines, and sodas.

Before taking any medicine, it is advised not to use anything on your own and consult with your doctor first, as certain medications can be incredibly harmful to the baby.
