Why Do People Go Bald?

Certain people bald earlier than others and some people go bald, and others don’t. Finally, there is an answer to your question about why some people start losing their hair and go bald. All men at the end of the day do suffer from hair loss during their aging process. The researchers have finally come to the point where they identify the method through which age damaged cells within the hair follicles start turning into the skin rather than hair. When this involves more of the stem cells, there is a shrinkage of the hair follicles, which eventually makes your hair disappear, leading to a bald head. Unlike head stem cells, the hair follicles in different parts of the body do regenerate over some time where they are in the growth phase, and then they lead to the dormant stage where the growth stops.

According to a study conducted, it was seen that follicle stem cells undergo a proper cycle. Still, during the aging process, DNA gets damaged, which ultimately leads to the destruction of Collagen 17A1 i.e., a type of protein that transforms the stem cells of the hair into epidermal keratinocytes also known as skin cells. The hallmark for people going bald is that the hair loss is mainly reproducible and a distinctive pattern. There are certain areas of the scalp where hair loss is more when compared to the other regions such as in the temple areas, hair loss over the crown that starts from the whorl, and spreads baldness in outer directions and thinning of hair on mid-frontal scalp area.

Scalp hair is different from the hair all over the body, which is because the hair grows within follicular units and produces hair tufts that emerge from each pore. The babies have light and thin air during their newborn period because each follicle at that time has a single strand, which extends to 3-4 hairs on each follicle once they reach their school life. When you undergo alopecia, the hair follicle starts shrinking these secondary hairs, which affects the scalp hair and leads to single terminal hair within each follicle in your old age rather than hair tuft that results in baldness. In most situations, 50% of hair starts disappearing with time in volume leading to a bald head. Women in their old age do realize that their hair thickness is reducing with time, or they are undergoing excessive hair loss before they start relaxing baldness. Men, on the other hand, have short hair due to which they are unable to recognize baldness and hair loss. The baldness is controlled by epigenetic and genetic factors where the children start losing hair at the same rate, the same age, and the same pattern due to the genes leading to hair loss. The inheritance of traits that results in baldness occurs due to the genetic sensitivity against a byproduct of the hormone testosterone i.e., dihydrotestosterone. It is because of this byproduct that hair follicles that are sensitive to it start shrinking with time leading to baldness. There are other conditions as well, which can make you bald like alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, and nutritional deficiency.

Hair loss and baldness can now be controlled through various medical therapies, so if you are going bald, you can undergo hair transplant, PRP therapy, and others. But before you plan on undergoing any procedure, you need to consult your healthcare professional so that you are treated appropriately.
